About VALTREX

VALTREX (valacyclovir hydrochloride) is the hydrochloride salt of the L-valyl ester of the antiviral drug acyclovir.

When taken orally, VALTREX is rapidly and extensively absorbed from the GI tract and is readily converted to acyclovir.

With VALTREX, the bioavailability of acyclovir is higher than with oral acyclovir.*1,2

  • Better absorption of VALTREX allows 3 to 5 times greater bioavailability than oral acyclovir
  • VALTREX offers consistently greater bioavailability at any dose
